Looking at the 680s now...

If you are determined to get 680's, look at the MSI Lightnings. I will say they will need to be BIOS flashed to be able to up the volts as they now ship out at stock 1.175V. If you are comfortable doing this, then you will be buying great cards.

Your 580's are plenty to play everything but I do understand the upgrade itch far too much :)
 
You will get about a 50% increase in performance which sounds like a lot but in games a lot less noticable.

Maybe you should wait for the next generation cards and then upgrade.
 
ahh well yes the 580s do hold their own, they aint no snail BUT I like to put all me games to the highest possible settings while keeping it around the 60fps mark, and in a few games even the twins are struggling to do that.

Maybe im being a bit OCD about it. . . trying to get the perfect gameplay ??

anyways, if the next gen of GFX cards were coming out let say early next year then I could hold off that itch till then. . . but last I heard it could be later end of 2013 and that makes the itch very angry :)

I heard they're a new version that has more bandwidth but.. still crap. What monitor supports that over dual link dvi or display port?

The reference 680 supports 3dvision surround out the box. As do all other 680s that I know of except this one and the v1 version of it.

I'm not aware of any monitors that will allow you to go 3d vision surround with the card in the OP.

The only other 680 I know off the top of my head with different outputs that are worthwhile is the upcoming galaxy/kfa2 watercooled 680. (miniDPx2, DP, hdmi)

I heard early 2013 for new cards (but that was the other month) , surely worth the wait opposed to dumping the 580's for a marginal increase?

ahh well, if we are looking early 2013 then ill just wait then. . . from what you guys are saying maybe i thought id get more of an increase in performance than I would actually get.

I was very tempted to get that MSi though after reading about it, my finger was on the trigger :)
