Hey guys hope you're all well.
I'm in the market for 2 laptops both with very different purposes.
First laptop is for my gf, shes off to uni with about £300 budget but i'm willing to look up to the £450 mark. She 'wants' 15" and a decent sized hdd ( 500gb would be plenty) i don't think shes too bothered about how thin it is so probably look away from ultrabooks and look towards higher powered cpu's and laptops in general (presuming this will hopefully allow longer lifespan). Also a disk drive would be useful yet not 100% essential.
Second laptop is for myself. I'm not sure how much it will get used but I'm going to be using at as almost a study machine. i want to learn various subjects starting with html and moving on from there. I'm not in the market for power as i have a decent desktop that is what i use when i'm gaming (courtesy of ocuk). so the specs i'm looking for on this machine are: any size screen but preferably 13" or smaller but with a decent resolution (the resolution is the reason i'm not getting a mbair 11"). I'm not after huge storage due to the desktop having that covered so an SSD would be great (id like 75gb< after windows install). I'd probably look towards haswell mainly due to better battery life.
Whilst I'm here. I don't really see the appeal of a touch screen switch-around does everything type machine as its unlikely i'll be using it as a tablet or using the touchscreen. But if you feel like its a good feature to have definitely let me know I'm always up for hearing peoples opinions on things like that.
