So i'm in the market for a new TV and am looking at a 55" model.

I know the top dog here is the LG C9 and in all honesty I would absolutely love the TV but with having two kids there is constant static images on the TV, whether it be "Are you still watching Netflix" or the HUD from something like Minecraft. Due to this my fear of running into screen burn is really putting me off going OLED.

I'm currently considering the follow:
  • Samsung Q80R
  • Sony Bravia KD55XG9505
  • LG 55SM9800PLA NanoCell
Does anyone have any opinions on the above TV's, or can you suggest any others that might be better?
Alternatively, are there any retailers who would cover burn in that would put my mind at ease over getting the LG C9?

My budget is somewhere around £1,800.
Use case would be 4k content, movies and gaming.

Thanks for any help!

It may be worth purchasing from Richer Sounds with their six year warranty. First year is with LG directly. Plus they price match the best deals as well.

But from first hand experience I had my panel replaced within a week of it developing a vertical red line. LG's customer service was top notch to be fair. After my initial call to them I just used WhatsApp to send picture of problem and my invoice. Had a call back the same day to arrange engineer visit.

Don't worry about the burn in, you get 5 years from Currys or 6 years from Richer sounds. Treat yourself to the Oled.

I'm pretty sure that burn in isn't covered on the OLED TV's. Isn't that just a QLED warranty offered by Samsung?

Sony Bravia KD55XG9505

Any particular reason you would go for the Sony over any other options available?

Best in terms of value for money and performance.

An LG oled cheapest model would be best but if you don't want to risk screen burn then the Sony is the top dog.

Yes it doesn't have the absolute best picture quality but it's a very good TV at a very good price.

It's more importantly doesn't really do anything wrong. I've been using the android on the xf90 and it's fine no need for a third party box.

No back-light bleed.

If there is blooming with the settings I'm using I can't notice it.

Black's are extremely good for an LCD.

I was in a similar boat to you last year where it was to be used solely for gaming. So I chose an xf90 over the other options
