I'm still using Cherry PS/2 keyboards on some of my computers and up until now have been restricted to using motherboards that still had PS/2 ports. I realise this is not sustainable, but I want to keep these perfectly good keyboards if possible.

Does anyone know of a PS/2 to USB adaptor that will work with UK keyboards?

I am aware that the many of the cheap adaptors don't work at all with keyboards. Even with the adaptors that do work there seems to be an issue with them only working fully with US keyboards and on UK keyboards some of the keys don't work.

Has anyone heard of a 100% working PS/2 to USB keyboard adaptor for UK?

I bought six generic purple ones off that biddy site and all worked fine with uk keyboards. I've never known the adapters only work with certain locale keyboards. The adaptor can't differentiate between UK, US etc.

Something to do with the ascii character set for the UK being different to most of the rest of the world? It was ages ago I researched it and as I recall one or more of the non-alpha/num characters were wrong when using UK keyboards but work fine with US keyboards and keyboards from most of the rest of the world?

Have you tested every non-alpha/num character with one of those adaptors? If so, do you know what make it is please?

If anyone is intersted, the problem is with the backslash/vertical bar key next to the Z key. On the cheap USB adaptors when you connect very old PS/2 keyboards results can vary from not working at all to losing that key.

Additionally there are apparently problems with the adaptors only working after reaching Windows, so not in BIOS/console modes.

The Pro Signal one seems the front runner from what I have foudn so far. Fixes the key problem but not the outside Windows problem.

PRO SIGNAL USB TO SINGLE PS/2 ADAPTOR
Manufacturer Part No USB-0044S

Yeah the pro-signal one was what I was gonna recommend it was what I used when I had PS/2 keyboard. Didn't know about this problem though.
