My current GPU, an R9 280X, is giving me a lot of grief in Battlegrounds so I'm looking to upgrade. It'll be going with an i5-4670K for gaming at 1080p (possibly higher res in the next few years) and I'd like to keep the budget below £250, which I know is an issue at the minute.

If I'm lucky either an RX 580 or a GTX 1060 seem to fall into that price bracket, and I was looking at the Zotac 1060 Mini which OcUK have the discount code for at the moment. Finding an RX 580 seems more diffucult.

Am I missing a more obvious choice? I've heard a few people say hold on for Vega but it seems like there'll be nothing from that in my price bracket.

I play PUBG and I have a i5 7600K @ stock and a 1060 3GB with a 200 core overclock and a 600 ram overclock. i manage to get over 100 fps with the optimal settings on average usually around the 110fps mark with drops to 60 fps at times playing at 1080p.

I think my settings are AA - Ultra, Shadows - Low, Textures - Medium - View Distance - Ultra, Foliage - Ultra, can't remember what effects and post processing are on.

So a 1060 6GB version for £240 should run everything @ ultra at 1080P or a mix of high/ultra anyway as it's more powerful and has double the VRAM.

Thanks for the replies everyone, though I would prefer to go new rather than 2nd hand, mostly because I'd like it soon rather than messing around with bids or waiting for one to come up at a good price.

A little bit over your budget but you can get an 8GB RX580 here:

Honestly, all other things being equal I'd prefer to get an AMD card but that's a bit more expensive than the 1060, chugs a lot more power and doesn't look like it would give much more performance.

(I probably should have mentioned that this is going into a Corsair 250D ITX case, so it can't take anything outrageously big or hot, but that 580 looks like it would fit just fine.)

Good to hear thanks, my 280X mostly holds an OK framerate with everything on low but the quality is so bad that I'm obviously not seeing things which my team mates are.

pubg looks bad anyway imo. a blurry mess, made even worse if graphics settings are turned up.
i have screen scale - max(will drop fps slightly), everything else very low except textures - low and view distance - ultra. then i use reshade for smaa and 1 or 2 of the sharpen filters.
