Looking for a 970

I have an HD Radeon 7850 at the moment and I'm looking to jump ship over to Nvidia.
I currently have my eyes on getting a 970, but I'm not sure what card to get, I want to stay below the £300 mark, but I do have a question. What does it mean by "boost clock"? Is that the overclock speed?

Boost clock is the clock speed it will hit when under load and within thermal and power limits. Essentially, it's the minimum clock speed you will see when gaming.

You will be able to push further with an overclock.

Possibly, but I'm sure others have a 970 working with a 970. Make sure your bios is as upto date as possible

What's the best GTX970 available? I need the fastest out of the box card. I like that new Gigabyte cards, but there not out until dec. Like EVGA because of the warranty and their transferable.
