Hi folks

At the moment i have a set of Mission 771 book shelf speakers running of a Sherwood amplifier that i purchased from Richer Sounds a good few years ago. I am looking to upgrade to a set of floor standing speakers and I hear the 773's are really good but was looking for opinions ?

I know the amplifier is pretty pap so what would you suggest in that range ?

Money wise i would be looking to spend about £400 and my music taste varies from rock to dance but I am a budding DJ and trance is my sound of choice.

I'd suggest you spend your whole budget on the amp side of things (assuming you have a decent CD player or turntable on the front end).
Well controlled bass into a good pair of bookshelves is MUCH better than sloppy mush pumped into a pair of floorstanders.

Well i have a set of Technics 1210's and all the rest of my audio comes from my PC.

So what amp would you suggest with dance music in mind ?

If you have the chance, go have a listen to some Cyrus, Arcam, Linn, Rega and Naim kit. They all have a slightly different style of presentation, and what you need to do is see which YOU prefer. Doesn't matter which I like (don't use any of them as it happens, but that's a different story). The key point is which you gel with best.
Once you've found which manufacturer you'd like, find one s/h.

Yeah i might take a trip into richer sounds tomorrow and see if they can play some of my CDs on their amps, I need to buy some wall mounted speaker brackets anyway.

Thanks for the advice mate.

Please be aware that Richer sounds really aren't in the league to supply more expensive kit. RS have over the last few years turned into a "well this is what we make, so this is what we'll sell you", as they own most of the manufacturers that are on their shelves. No clues as to how positive they'll be about their own products.

I'd suggest you find a good dealer stocking a wider variety of stock.
