Looking for a Cheap basic Laptop for mother in law

Hi all,

Need some help. Mother in Law wants a laptop.

All it needs is:

15" ish
DVD drive
build in wifi
windows

All it will be used of is internet and odd photo's and bit of dvd playback so a basic basic laptop will do.

any ideas she was look at about £200? is this doable? like said cheaper better

Unless you look at refurbished, I think £350 is a more realistic budget for a new laptop around that screen size.

yeah just looked around best I can find is Dell Inspiron 15 for £349
has
Intel® Celeron® Processor 900 2.2 ghz, = no idea if any good?
Intel Integrated GMA 4500MHD = guess good enough for video?
3072MB 800MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM = which is more than enough
250GB (5,400rpm) Serial ATA Hard Drive = which is plenty.
Windows 7 64 bit = great

They also do one for £300 but only has 1gb ram and 160gb hardrive and windows vista... I think the extra £49 is worth upgrade?

so can anyone beat £349?

Probably the best you will get tbh. The only other option is a netbook, but of course that means basically no DVD drive and a small screen.

The Celeron isn't bad and will be fine for their needs.
