In terms of lasting a while, the Athlon II with GTX460 is good, but I would try to push for a Phenom II X4 - such as Stulid's first post.

Will perform better, and overclock higher so ultimately will last longer!
 
also forgot to mention i will be playing on 24" monitor will i be able to use max res with decent settings with that setup?

my res is 1920x1280 i think
