I could do with a decent(ish) printer for as cheap as possible - seen the HP Deskjet D1460 for under £20 but not sure about replacement cartridges etc??

Anyone got any experience of this printer or a recommendation for another??

Thanks....

If you want one for photo prints I would consider the Canon IP3500 (£40-£50), I can't really help with the really cheap ones though... what I can say is don't buy a low end Lexmark ;)

cheap printer = expensive cartridges, how much printing do you do, text or images>

epson seem to be prefferred for long term cheapness due to cloned cartridges.

I love my canon ip4300 but thats £50 ish and so's a complete set of new cartirdges for it.

i have the canon ip4300 and that is a great very clear printer but its about £60 cartridges are quite expensive but last ages i've printed hundreds of pages before needing to change a single cartidge :S but they do do some cheaper pixma printers for about £30 i think they are ip1800 and ip2100

just a note my epson print heads dried up and i could not get them working again which meant a wasted printer :S plus the catridges didnt last long at all i was forever changing them

do you want to do colour or are you just printing off lots of text? if it is just office work then you can't go wrong with a Samsung ml2010 for 40 quid, with a laser cartridge, you can re sell the printer fater for 25 quid, so the next one with another laser cartidge is only effectivley costing you 15 quid for 1000 sheets :P

if you do get the HP Deskjet D1460 try and look for re-fills as these come with more ink. the printer takes the HP 21 & 22, both of which only have 5ML in (roughly 1.5ML in 2 colour chambers and 2ML in the other), where I used to work we ecould get 15ML in the black easy, and anywhere from 12-15 in the colour. their good cartridges, but only let down by the tiny amount of ink HP put in them
