I've just started university and I've come to the realisation that for the price it costs me to print at university, it would only be marginally more expensive to buy a printer for around the £50 mark to have at home.

Does anybody have any recommendations of a printer for around £50 or are they much of a muchness? I'm also curious about the print/scan/copy machines, are they any better/worse than a simple printer?

Cheers.

Canon MG5150, really good prints and packed full of features. I printed all my wedding stationary and it looked amazing.

I have a Dell 1130, grabbed it for £25 including laser cartridge :).

I'd want a laser if I was in your position, given the work you'll be printing will be mono anyway?

HP C4580 - A little bit out of budget, but the ink is so damn cheap, and its wireless, which is a plus, you can hide it and still be able to print.

go kodak...you may pay slight more for the printer (think the printers are about £70 ish) but you will pay a lot less for the inks....

canon (while having better print quality) there inks cost a lot...

If you can find a £50 printer then install a CISS (continuous ink supply system) it should last a very long time. :D
