looking for a good dvd player, but need some help.

im after one that does HD upscaling etc but i need to be divx friendly, as of late ive been puttin my boxsets in storage and puttin them on 1 dvd in divx format. saves breakin or ruining things.

any ideas?

You could look at the Samsung HD850 or HD950 Hypervision models. I'm looking at getting one of these myself and after reading a few reviews about both the players it seems a pretty divided opinion as to whether they play Divx. Some people say they will, some say they won't but both players have good reviews.
 
The quality is going to depend on the source material of course. Naturally transcoding from MPEG2@9mb/s (DVD) to [email protected]/s (divx that you would download off the net) is going to significantly reduce the quality. However MPEG4 will look better than MPEG2 at the same bitrate. At the moment everyone is talking about H264 which is the sucessor to MPEG4. google it.
 
well i have been doing them myself from my collection of dvds, yea u can get em dvd quality etc. its nice to have 5 films on 1 dvd and not kill off your originals
