Hi guys, first time for me here in the case forum, but i could do with some of your expertise.

I'm looking to spend £200 (ish) on a full tower sized aluminium case, but i can't find one that doesn't come with any problems or issues.

I'm looking for something with a traditional design, so no need for any 'fashy' bits, side windows and the like.

I really like the Lian-Li PC-V2000B, however, in reading the following review (http://www.abxzone.com/abx_reviews/keri/article_p3.html) it is noted that some of the larger heatsink/fan combos such as the Zalman CNPS 7700 or the Thermalright XP120 won't fit in the case due to the partition between the motherboard area and the power supply area, therefore ruling this out as a possibility.

I also really like the Lian-Li PC-G70, but as i only use one power supply, i don't fancy having a gaping hole in the top of the case where the second power supply would go.

I am, therefore, rather stuck and if there is anything that people can recommend i'd be absolutely delighted to hear about it.

Many thanks for you time

I have ran a xp120 in the v1000, v1000+ and a v2000 without issues or even thinking there could be issues. :confused:

I have to disagree with that review almost completely, someone does not know what common sense is!
Cons:

* Screws required for Optical Drives
* No Removable Motherboard tray
* Have to remove both sides to access front fan filter

Screws... this enables you to fit the drive in easily, without any breakable and quite honestly rubbish screw less system.

The motherboard area is very spacious, by not having a motherboard tray you can have lots of room for tall heatsinks and fans over the graphics card amongst other things, motherboard trays can limit the HSF you can fit while outside the case due to the physical limitations of the size of the hole on the back!

The third is also a lie, you can do this one handed under a desk without being about to see, it is two thumbscrews with are held on with a retention spring so there is no risk of them falling down.

I have to disagree with this reviewer, he has not actually lived with one of these cases for more than one try at everything.

There may be issues if the board you use does not conform to the ATX spec, but as long as you do then this case is more spacious than almost any other when it comes to the motherboard area.

Even if the cooler issues were true the best coolers now are designed completely differently from the ones you listed anyway and should fit just fine.

The others cons are simply non issues, however for that sort of money you could get the Silverstone TJ-09 which seems to fit the bill perfectly. It isn't quite full tower but it is big with plenty of space for any system.

Cheers guys, that is massively helpful :)

So a Scythe Ninja or a Zalman CNPS9700 would fit in the Lian-Li PC-V2000B case with no issues at all?

If so, i'm completely sold :) (as soon as OCUK have some stock that is!)

Silverstone TJ09B

Can fit the tower cooler.
8800gtx
Enermax Galaxy 1000/850
Good cooling.

Depending on motherboard then yes, bigger coolers fit fine too.

Although I have only used around 20 motherboards in the V series, so one may just not fit and encounter the same issue as the reviewer. :o

Yeh, if the CPU socket on the mobo is too close to the edge, there maybe a problem with getting large air coolers in to a V1000/2000 etc..For example there would be a problem fitting a Tuniq Tower on the EVGA 680 mobos in a Vseries

Would this not be the same in an awful lot of cases then?

Most motherboard areas cut off at the same point that the V series does. You rarely get acres of space between the motherboard and PSU mounting.

I'd second the A10. Super case. Only issue I had was with my Tuniq cooler as if you have that oriented so the fan is facing front or back, then the motherboard tray won't slide back in, but if the Tuniq is facing the other way (fan up or down) then it will. Not a major problem though, as I just slid the tray in before fixing the motherboard - does kind of defeat the purpose of a slideable tray though. That's my only (very very minor) gripe with this case. Everything else is super, and it looks amazing. Still needs screws for the optical drives and you have to remove both sides to access fan filter, but most Lian Li cases are this way. The A10 is slightly smaller than the V2000/V2100 also, which suited me.

Here is mine;
