By default it scans the user's computer and automatically shares all files across the Xunlei network, often exhausts the user's upload bandwidth as it does not provide a real upload speed limiter. The user has no means of limiting what to be shared or not to be shared. Coupled with the lack of a hash algorithm, files are only matched by their names and private files can easily be obtained through the network.

Isn't that unbelievably bad?

You might as well ask your housemate to kill you, then kill himself :\

Ad's arent really going to slow your internet down much, downloading will .

For a good ad blocker (which is not what i think you're asking for) use the built in blocker with Opera, or Adblock plus with Fx. These have to be used locally though, you understand? If you're looking for spyware, which i think you may be after what you've installed is fine.

Just remember if you saturate the upload (which is probably likely by the sound of things) this will greatly impede the download performance. Same with the download on the upload.

Best thing to do rather than using software is talk to your mate and sort things out like civilized people. Much easier to come up with certain "rules".

Wow, i didn't bother reading about the software but thats really awful... Why does he insist on using this? He's essentially opening up his WHOLE pc to the world, so tbh just discard spy bot anyways, sounds like its trying to damn the pacific ocean :p

I would... but I dont think he understands. :(
anyway... may be I will set the QoS on my router so it limit the traffic and he will give up using it :D

That software sounds awful, uninstall it and block the installed. That's not something you want on your computer. Why can't he use uTorrent or the citrus fruit P2P network?
