Firstly, let me apologise for starting another one of these threads. I realise they can be tiresome.
I'm looking for a laptop (mostly for the internet, movies, music) for around £600. I'm prepared to spend an absolute maximum of £700, ideally I'd like to spend less.
I'm looking for something fast and reliable. Those are the most important features. My current laptop (an old HP Pavilion) has been fairly well looked after and has lasted me 5 years which seems like a reasonable life span to me.
It's going to act as a more compact and portable alternative to a desktop so I'm not too concerned about weight and battery life.
I own a PS3 so I don't need a Blu Ray drive or a great graphics cards as I'll mostly be gaming on my console.
I've looked at the Dell Studio 17 range (2.4ghz intel core 2 duo, 4gb ram, 320gb hdd, 1440x900 display, radeon 3650 - for £629) but I've been told that perhaps they're too expensive for what you actually end up getting. I've had a quick look at some HPs but I keep hearing that they have problems with overheating (something my current HP laptop suffers from) which is putting me off.
Does anyone have any recommendations for decent laptops for around £600?
