Hey guys, first post here!

I'm looking for a CPU cooler for my system. Currently it's got the standard AMD cooler (AMD Athlon 2 X4 635) and I'm looking at future overclocking (currently overclocked 7% via the default overclocking profile in BIOS).

Current temperatures sit around 63C at full load and 37C at idle (Cool n quiet is turned off), system ambient temperature is 27C.

I've looked at the Artict Cooling Freezer Xtreme rev 2, cooler master V8, Zalman CNPS9900 NT and the Corsair Hydro H50 series.

I'm torn between the Artict Cooling Freezer Xtreme rev 2 and the cooler master V8, but the Zalman looks appealing too. The Artict Cooling is cheapest at around £30, the Zalman is about £35-£40 and the Cooler master V8 is about £40-£45. The Corsair hydro series is about £60.

I've got an Asus M4N68T motherboard, and current cooling in the system is one 120mm fan at the front blowing air in, one 80mm exhaust fan blowing air out, and one 80mm fan at the side blowing air in. I read that with the AM3 socket the mounting of the CPU cooler is the opposite of what it should be, rather than blowing air from the from to the back, it blows it from the bottom to the to, straight to the PSU. Obviously I want to avoid this problem and blow the air towards the exhaust fan, so which of these fans would offer me the best cooling?

just note that the H50 is not an air cooler, its a water cooler ;)
not that it makes much difference, but u do have air cooler in the title.

if it was me, iwould go with something like the NH-14, Venomous-X or Titan Fenrir

Yeah I Know, forgot to put in the fact I was looking at that even though I know it's a water cooler.

Looking at prices the titan fenrir is pretty good value at around £30. Noctua NH - d14 looks the bees knees but at £60 it's pretty expensive for my budget. I was looking at something around the £40 mark, maybe stretching it to £50 or so.

Does the design of the titan fenrir aim the airflow towards the PSU or towards the exhaust fan on the AM3 sockets?

for that budget, i would say the Titan Fenrir would be ur best bet.

afaik, the fans will point towards the front or back of the case, fan can usually put on either side
