Looking for a good strategy game

I have been catching up on Game of Thrones and its got me wanting to play a game similar to this. I remember I used to play Total War games a lot back in the day...but I have heard bad things about Rome 2: total war.

Anyone have any other suggestions struggling to find a game that I want to play.

Would it be worth waiting to see if it comes up on the steam sale if I haven't missed it?

You might want to try shogun 2 maybe ? havenet tried it myself, personally more into starcraft 2 = quite popular RTS game, company of heroes 2 and age of empires series interest you ? x com enemy unknown is good and tactical, but it is turn based, x com 2 is coming later this year if your interested in that. Rome 2 has got updated if I remember right, so that could be worth checking out

Medieval total war II + Westeros mod.

Crusader Kings II also has a Game of thrones mod, but remember CKII has no real combat in the game it's purely a stategy game and its a bit marmite, I love it but many get it and hate it.

ck2 GOT mod is buggy as hell.

I bet you can get ck2 for cheap now though and it's a good game
