Looking for recommendations on a good monitor. Budget between £800-£1300, give or take.

Mainly planning on using this for work, watching videos, and gaming.

I mainly play Real-time Strategy - AoE, Starcraft 2, Spell force 3 (when it's out). Generally not an FPS gamer although I do play some Far Cry Primal and some RPGs. So refresh may not be that important.

Would love something with
  1. high resolution - 4k-ish and beyond.
  2. great colours and gamut.
  3. Size over 27". 30+ would be ideal.
  4. Gsync if possible - how critical is it at 4k 60Hz if you're running of a GTX 1080? (I could SLI up on this if needed.)
Good refresh would be great too, but in this specs I'm thinking it will be hard to get over 60 Hz.

I take it, there aren't any HDR monitors available yet? Planning to purchase this in January but can wait a bit if better options are not far off.

My current selection is this Dell UltraSharp UP3216Q 31.5":

Is there anything out there better? I had a look at the LG UltraFine 5K Display but I'm unsure as to whether this is a true 10-bit.

I've also had a look at curved displays such as Acer x34 but it looks like colours are poorer compared to the Dell. Also not sure if curved is helpful for watching video and RTS games.

This also looks attractive but OCUK page says 10-bit while the Acer page says 16.7M colours: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/acer...descreen-led-monitor-black-red-mo-099-ac.html How does it compare to the dell? I like that it has Gsync

Thanks, guys.

Not too worried about GPU horsepower. I may just go with a Titan (Pascal) for now.

After reading this review http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/acer-predator-xb321hk-uhd-monitor,review-33619.html

I've narrowed it down to:
  1. Acer 4k2k 321hk. Apparently it is a 10 bit panel https://www.overclockers.co.uk/acer...descreen-led-monitor-black-red-mo-099-ac.html
  2. Dell Ultrasharp 3216q given its 87% coverage of DCI-P3 https://www.overclockers.co.uk/dell...-led-4k-monitor-midnight-black-mo-085-de.html

The Dell has better colour gamut but the Acer has Gsync and better response time. Anyone have any opinions on the material difference in the colour gamut vs how critical response time and gsync are likely to be?
