I had an SLK800 with an 80mm Papst fan on it. My mate uses it now to cool his XP2500.

Thats what I used on my old system, Thermalright make some quality coolers:)

I had my gigabyte g-power pro on my xp3200 and it did a great job. Idle sat around 35'c with the fan on its slowest setting which is fairly quiet. Got it cooling my 3700sd now as its universal, and it keeps that at 30'c idle on the slowest setting, even in this heat and with 1.56v going through it :)

I'm also looking for a socket a hsf for a veery hot 2500+, however the mobo doesn't have mounting holes. Does the g-power need mounting holes or does it use the clip-tab things on the socket? Thanks

Uses clips so no mounting holes are required. It comes with clips to fit socket A, 939, 754, 775 & 478 so can easily be used again when you upgrade as i've done. Make sure you gat the pro version if you are going to get one as it comes with its own fan comntroller so you can alter the speed of the fan as at full speed its on the loud side.

Great news, thanks mate. This 2500 used to be at 3200 speeds  then it started getting hotter  . I only noticed when it incessantly crashed that temps were high 70's  , so its at 1100mhz atm, 60ish idle. Was looking for a cooler for ages but they mostly need mounting holes, so this could be the answer *touches wood*.

Like i said it kept my 3200 at around 35ish at idle and that was running it a 2.3. Of course on a hot day it went higher but even in the summer after a day of gaming it never went over 45/50 under load.
