Hi there

I have a hp dc5800 desktop pc

The HSF is making a noise since I cleaned it out so I am thinking of replacing it.

I believe it is socket LGA775

I am looking for a strong, reliable fan and my PC is on 24/7/365

Please advise

Thank you

How much clearance do you have on your case?

Do you have an over clock on your CPU?

What sort of budget are you looking at?

Yes sorry should have given more detail...

No overclock

Clearance wise, not sure, its in the hp dc5800 case?

I am seeking bang for buck will not be overclocking, no more then say £25

I cannot stress enough that my PC is switched on 24 / 7 / 365 so long term stability is a must

Thank you

- Xigmatek Loki (92mm fan, 135mm height).
- Xigmatek Gaia (120mm fan, 159mm height).
- Akasa Nero 3 V2 (120mm fan, 160mm height).
- Thermalright True Spirit 120 (120mm fan, 145mm height).

In that lot, Thermalright got my preference. Good balance between performance, size, ram compatibility and price. Check if it fits, and also make double sure the cooler is compatible (motherboard is some regulat LGA775, not some weirdo OEM board with no room for a 3rd party cooler).

nice thank you, I think it maybe some weirdo OEM board...I am a bit paranoid about the side of the thermalright true spirit

All good options.

Also the true spirit 90, its smaller and cheaper.

thank you

is it as good as the Xigmatek Loki (92mm fan, 135mm height).

Yeah, hmm your case looks like a slim type? Then I'd pick up a low profile, or stock-replacement cooler. Like the Akasa Nero LX. Scythe Shuriken considered one of the best HTPC fan.

Between the TS90 and the Loki, I'd pick up the Loki, it's a better known quantity, although I always rate Thermalright products. Best is to look for reviews, particularly noise. Performance-wise, I wouldn't worry for a stock LGA775. And of course can they fit in the case. If they can't it's a moot point. You can do the measurements yourself to make sure. from the surface of the CPU, to the edge of the case, give or take a few millimeters.
