I don't know if anyone can help me with this but I'm after a keyboard that does not fall over when I press certain keys at the same time.
since 2003 Ive had no problems because I had a Logitech Elite (Y-BF38) http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/434/2992&hub=1&cl=gb,en
Unfortunately this died last night and after a suitable burial for a keyboard that has served me so well I set about looking for a replacement. Unfortunately every keyboard I have already from PS2 to USB is affected by the same condition that seems to affect every keyboard I have ever had apart from the Y-BF38.
Below is my mail that I sent to Logitec last night describing the issue.
"I have had this keyboard (Y-BF83) since it came out in about 2003, it’s been an excellent keyboard and very reliable.
Unfortunately today it’s finally stopped working in that the right arrow key now no longer registers the keystroke.
The keyboard is used for gaming and as a result this key not working means that it is no longer of use.
Now I need to find a replacement keyboard, however, the reason this has been such a good keyboard is because I does not suffer from a strange problem that most others do.
I need to be able to press the "up arrow" along with either "left arrow" or "right arrow" at the same time along with the "0" on the number pad.
Essentially I need to be able to use the following 3 keys at the same time:
"Up arrow" + "left arrow" + "0" (number pad)
Or
"Up arrow" + "right arrow" + "0" (number pad)
On all keyboards apart from this one the 3rd key to be pressed fails to register.
I’m wondering if this is down to the internal mechanics of how the keyboard is put together or its internal component board.
Either way can you let me know if this issue affects other Logitech keyboards?
I have already tried the G15 Keyboard a couple of years ago and was disappointed to find that this keyboard also suffers from the problem."
Their response to me was to just recommend that I buy their G19 keyboard for £150...
Unfortunately having not recently won the lottery I wont be forking out that kind of money on a keyboard unless it does my ironing while I sleep and cooks me breakfast in the morning and even then I would have to run it past the wife.
About 4 years back when I built myself a new machine I thought I might get a new keyboard as well and plumped for a back lit Saitek eclipse (1) this had the problem, I tried the Logitec G15, same problem. I also tried the eclipse 2 and that had the problem.
If anyone is able to point me in the direction of a keyboard that just bloody works or can tell me why the Y-BF38 (which only cost me about £25) works like this and no others do I would be much appreciative.
Cheers,
Tom
