Don't really know much about laptops and the performance they should deliver from their specifications but I want to get a laptop for my girlfriend who will need it work to do spreadsheets, Visio and other office boring stuff. I have my own laptop but it's 3 years old now but still going strong: Dell XPS M1730. Now the budget is £1100 as I've seen a Laptop at John Lewis: Toshiba Satellite P875-102 going for around that price. I would want a 17inch screen with a good processor and I heard the i7's second gen, not sure if there is a 3rd are the one to go for. I know for what my girlfriend needs it for she could get a laptop for even under £300 but I maybe using it as well so would like to see a vast improvement from my Dell when running multiple applications. Any ideas for a better alternative and preferably a shop where I can pick one up by tomorrow in London.
