I'm after a laptop which will allow my wife to complete financial duties. It'll be used for this, browsing, skype/hangouts - that's about it.

I'm not up to date on who is the best for reliability, but that's ideally what I'm after, nothing special required.
 
That looks decent enough too me, at that budget you can't really go wrong. Just get the most powerful CPU and most amount of RAM.

Have you considered a Chromebook?
