Looking for a Low Profile Cooler

hi,

I am looking for a low profile silent though good performing cooler.
It'll be for a slightly Oc'ed E4300 on a Abit F-I90HD in a Antec Fusion Case.
Max clearance in the case ( height ) would be 4.5"...so 4" or 10cm to be safe.
Someone recommended an X-Wind by Ultra Products or a Zalman 7700 CU.
Now the Ultra product are not avaible around me in Belgium so thats a no-go...then only one option left... i'd like more options if possible :).
Now seeing that a Antec Fusion has 2x 120mm right from the mobo a ' stream-through ' design ( like the Scythe Ninja tower cooler ) would be very handy as the fans are very close to the cpu. But i doubt they exist smaller than 4", 10 cm in height.

Can any help me out? :)

If you want a compact crossflow heatsink the Silverstone Nitrogon NT03 is ok. It's a little loud due to it having 2x60mm fans (looking at the design these could be swapped for quieter models - akasa ambers etc...) but is effective and very compact! I have it on a 3200 A64 and it does very well!

The zalman you mentioned should do very well too!

i recommend an Artic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro i have one and they run at great tempratures

But he has an AMD and it won't fit in his case...

The thermaltake big typhoon is 103mm without a fan so should just about fit, same for the thermalright coolers similarly designed. You're really limited though for tower heatsinks that size as most use an 80/90/120mm fan and have about 4cm clearance from the motherboard.

Your best bet might be a zalman cnps8000 or Thermalright SI-128 running fanless.

I had the same issue with the fusion though I built an AMD system im mine,

The HSF I ordered was an Akasa Evo 98. All reviews said it was 117mm but when I got it 117mm was the size of the cooling area the actual height was 140ish mm so it won't fit.

Anyhow, as I had no option I used the stock AMD cooler X2 3800 65w which doesn't have a heatpipe, just a solid alloy block. Was expeciting noise but when I use the smart fan I can barely hear it. Unless you are ocing the 4300 very hard, mine hits 70C @ 1.6v 3.5Ghz then you may be fine with something simple like the Zalman or even the stock HSF as you get plenty of air from the 120mm fans.

Maybe the NT-03, but remove the 60mm fans and ghetto duct it to one of the 120mm case fans?
That would work a treat F1ZZY and provide excellent airflow! If you do decide to change fans these would suffice as long as you don't overclock the nuts off it - linky

Thank you all for your helpfull replies :).
Well i just received email from Antec and....neither the Zalman, nor thermalright or Scythe Samurai would fit :(. Updated max clearance would be 110mm according to Antec. O well silverstone it is then? God they're hard to find in europe....

You manage to find an NT-03 or something similar? :)

yeh i did....but i have to drive like 50Km for it....and gas ain't cheap these days...
This OR i'll get a Nexus PHT 7750 Skivetec cooler...I 'think' it might be a good cooler. Nexus has a good reputation when it comes to fans, don't they? ^^

Is that to a shop - couldn't you get them to deliver it to you?

Not seen that cooler before but could be effective! 28db at full tilt isn't too bad.

Thinking outside the box a bit here...

Do you think you could get one of these on that mobo?
Akasa here <------

Obviously have to push heatsink down and maybe to the side a bit. The fins on this aren't full cover for the 120mm fan, so it might just sqeeeeeeeze in, if you lucky.

I've seen pics of heatpipes bent 90 degrees the wrong way and kinked badly but still performing admirably. The degree of bending here is not very much. Caps on board and distance of socket to edge will be the deciding factors I think.

If you can get this in I think it would cool better and be quiet (1 less fan, as would use case fans). Because of the 2 120fans in the Antec case, it gives you plenty to aim for when bending, can go left or right. If cannot get close enough, then can shroud it with cardboard.

:D :D :D

Yeh i've tried these Akasa's... but they're misleading. The full height is over 140mm, so it won't fit. Otherwise it'd be puuuuuurfect ! :(
And the shop for the NT-03 does not have a webshop, only a online catalog ( man i thought my country was civilised -_- ).
I'll see what to get. Pending between the silverstone and the nexus.
If too much trouble for the silverstone i'll get the nexus, eh...
I can still swap him out for something else...

ty for your efford.
U very kind, Sir ! :D

I know it won't fit as standard.

You will have to make it fit with some bending / pushing / squashing.

I was saying if you were prepared to do that, it would be the best cooling and quietest option by a very long way.

That board has very low solid state capacitors near the socket so I reckon that it might work.

Not true about the Zalman. The 7700 should fit as it's definitely low profile as the fan is horizontal to the mobo (~70mm total height) but the 9500/9700 won't as the fan is vertical.

Yes sir! but it would hang over the mobo and interfere with the 2 120mm fans on the Antec Fusion... if it wasn't for that...

And the Akasa EVO 98 is an excelent choice! Is it new? i haven't seen it before... that and a Acoustifan Anti-dust would do wonders for my E4300 ^^

ty :) thought my thread was dead, actually..
