I am after a good quality monitor to buy either two or three of for a three screen rig.
I game, a bit, playing mainly Elite Dangerous, looking forward to the next installment in the EQ franchise and... umm.. kerbal space programme so nothing really fast and furious.
Currently I have a 30" Dell U3011 in the middle, a Dell 2405 FPW on the right and an acer S243HL on the left, built this just the other day and I am hooked.
So, I have some options here. I have two kids that need computers this christmas because I literally never get on my machine due to Minecraft and a wife who admits she is "deeply covetous" of the U3011. Apparently her macbook pro just does not cut it.
So. I have looked at getting two more 30" dells like these which would be around £1400 but the bezels are pretty wide, gonna be 4CM in total or thereabouts and the wife is left with a 24.
I have also looked at 3 x this BenQ which looks great, not really a gaming monitor some say but, do I need a gaming monitor like that? At 42 I am not sure my eyes are up to seeing the difference and staring out over Antonica whilst LFG is pretty static stuff. On the plus side the wife gets the dell 30", the kids each have a 24, on the slight downside that rig with 3x32 is gonna be ridiculously huge.
Option 3, go for the BenQ's little brother - but I am going to feel short changed moving from a 30" to 3X27? the dell is, it must be said, a rocking piece of kit.
Powering all this by the way is 2 x R9 290 so currently I am using 2xDVID and 1XHDMI on the one card.
Suggestions and comments much appreciated. Budget is .... around the 1.5k kinda mark
Oh and whilst I am here, gotta big up my latest firestrike bench, which I think, and I hope, is the #1 score for dual R9 290s and an AMD FX-8350
