Looking for a monitor

i need a 2ms response rate, HD monitor for about 175 pounds.

i was thinking about the Asus VH226H 22" Widescreen True HD LCD Monitor but its out of stock and i want to order soon in like 1 week or so... i really dont know what to do...
 
does it really make a difference when a monitor is HD when playing games? if it doesnt then i dont mind not having HD but 2ms is a must and there is a wide range of 22" monitors that are 2ms response... i cant pick 1 lol... need some advice.
 
Not really TBH especially at that size, it just makes the graphics card work harder.

There may be a lot of 2ms monitors, but the difference between one of them and an 8ms one is imperceptible, a lot of it is just marketing to cover up what is usually a rather basic TN screen (same with the "dynamic contrast ratio"). Personally, i'd go with this screen as it is considered the best 22in around. This is because it is fast enough and it uses a brilliant e-IPS panel - so all competitors pale in comparison to it's image quality and viewing angles.
 
Response time is not relevent below 16ms (At 60Hz refresh anyway). Input lag is (not normally an issue with TN panels though). TN panels with 2ms response times suffer from ghosting and colour overshoot.

Is there an equivalent 24" 16:10 screen out there?

This is the closest one available, its a very IPS nice (and big) screen at a very nice price.

But as of yet, there are now dell 24in versions of that monitor. Though i do hear a 24in dell IPS monitor has just arrived in Japan, hopefully it comes over here soon.

That screen is not bad, it will be good for games and certainly fast enough. However, if you ever put it side-by-side with the dell you will see that the dells picture is far better. As for the resolution, it doesn't really matter too much at this size and you need a faster graphics card to run games well on a 1920x1080 monitor compared to a 1680x1050 one.
 
i will be having 2x4890 so would that be enough? i still am not sure about the dell since it has 6ms response rate... and it doest look very much either... whats the other best monitor 22" i can get for about 200?

That will definitely be fast enough for 1920x1080 and should play games very nicely indeed.

As stated above the difference between 2ms and 6ms is completely imperceptible, it is things like input lag which are not stated on the specifications which really make a difference. As an example if you compare the dell to that LG, the dell has an average input lag of 9ms while the LG has 12ms.

As for alternatives, the dell is the only monitor with the e-IPS panel in your price range, all other monitors use TNs.

whoa :D i compared it to a samsung 2270 and the samsung had 17-9 while the dell had 20-9... so i am still not sure about which one is the best... but u mentioned about the dell having some extra stuff about i dont understand em :D which 1 is the best for a price margin of 200?

and can u tell me whats so special about a e-IPS panel?

My absolute honest answer of which monitor is the best is that the Dell 2209WA is the best. If the price was £250 it would still be worth it.

The extra stuff is that the dell uses a much better panel technology, here is a detailed explanation (remember, the dell is IPS while the others are TN). It doesn't help the speed of the monitor but it gives much better image quality and viewing angles compared to TN. Also, the P2270 is not the same monitor you linked to - it cost £212 not the £190 of the P2250.

Any of the monitors mentioned in this thread are good and i'm sure you would be happy with any one of them. I just identified the best of the bunch. If you feel you need to have 1080p resolution or the lower response numbers, then please get one of the other monitors - it is ofcourse your money.
 
dell is the best choice, there are other better responsive monitors out there, but with far more worse color quality, dell has it all, the responsiveness and the color, thats why i will be going to buy the dell :) thanks a lot m8! the only thing about the dell is its contrast, it hasnt got too many black colors... well i did a bit of search and that wont affect my gaming at all but only the films, which i barely watch :)

is that true?
 
I thought the blacks were actually rather good, not on par with a VA panel ofcourse, but should not be bad compared to a TN.

I got a 2209WA for my sister and she watches TV and Movies on it all the time (I have watched a few on it too) and they look great - and i'm comparing it to the monitor in my sig :D
 
so ur saying the only bad thing about it is actually not bad at all, thats perfect than :D no wonder it got 5 stars lol. i was going to spend 160 pounds on monitor but 2 of the items i was going to buy went on sale and i got another extra 30 pounds to spend, that makes a total of 190 which is the price of the dell now when its on sale talk about lucky :)

my system will be something like urs, except ud5 motherboard and corsair ram :D and 1000w corsair hx :D may i ask what fans u got on that prolimatech megahalems? i will be buying that one too, just want to know which fan to put on it. obviously going to need 2

I have two Noctua P12 fans on my megahalems.

The megahalems is a brilliant cooler, but with all the awesome word about this Corsair H50 - I would suggest giving that a good look. Some people have added two of my noctua fans to it - and it became an even more fantastic cooler.
