My wife keeps using my PC which means I get less 'work' done than I want to so I am looking for a Netbook for her to use and have had my eye on the Mini 311c however I would upgrade the memory and dump Win7 on it...

So with the cost of upgrading it the price would rise to about GBP350-380.

Are there any netbooks out there or 12-13" screen notebooks that can provide similar specs to an upgraded 311c without having to upgrade?

EDIT: She'll be using it to watch video, business use (mainly excel), photo editing, net usage, and storing junk like she would use her hand bag for :D

Asus 1215N.
Toshiba Satellite T130-13Q (on sale here at OcUK).
Acer 3810TZ.
Acer 1810TZ.

Dell Mini's come with pretty colours, and also some with 'HD' displays. Netbook resolution is quite low, and therefore annoying.

I'd go with a 13'' notebook. They have a bit more power, slightly bigger keyboard and screens, and can do HD videos as well (Flash HD still needs proper GMA4500HD support). Doesn't look like she needs ion / graphics, but dual core proc (even CULV) will give a bit more headroom for work. I'd still try to get a dual core, rather than a single core ULV.

I just picked up a little 10 inch Acer aspire one 521 with an amd V105 processor, 1GB DDR3 Ram and an ati 4225 card in it for £250. Can run 720p youtube videos no problem but ever so slightly stutters with 1080p youtube at full screen I found. I havent tried any other kinds of HD video than youtube though so i imagine that's a bad reference point. It comes with windows 7 starter. The gpu in it isnt as quick as the ION but from what ive seen its not far away. If the screen size and resolution don't bother you then id thoroughly recommend it. Look it up for some info its the ACER ASPIRE ONE 521
