Looking for a new 4K monitor.

I've been reading a lot about the aw3423dw Alienware, I think hardware unboxed did a recent a year later and it seems pretty decent. I've found there is also a aw3423dwf (although just found somewhere which says it's 1440p not 4k )which has HDMI 2.1 connectivity which I think I'd like to have as I have a console. I'll be using the monitor for 10 hours a day, coding and what not at work and also gaming and content creation in the evening. Would this be a decent monitor? I don't want to spend any more than £1,000 ideally. If not, any recommendations or any other monitors coming out soon I should keep an eye out for? Or does anyone have any experience with the aw3423dwf?

So those 2 alienware monitors are almost the same. The DW is the slightly older model, with slightly higher refresh rate and nvidia GSync. The DWF model is slightly newer with slightly less refresh rate and FreeSync. Both are 3440x1440p, so not 4k, but 1440p ultrawide. I'm running one of their precursors, before the switch to QD-OLED. Just recently upgraded my PC, and will be looking at monitors in a few months. Something to be aware of is that resolution may give funny results on consoles, so you may need to check up on that first. Even if it's supported, individual games may not support it.

As far as actual 4k OLED goes, the choice is much more limited the 42 ROG Swift (or 48 version) is really about it. Or there's the option of getting the LG C2 42 inch TV as well.

Although, if you are using the screen for productivity, an OLED of any flavour may not be the best choice - I saw the same hardware unboxed review, and he's only used the screen for a couple of hundred hours over the year, and he's got the beginning of burn in where he had his split screen windows meet. Not saying you couldn't make it work, just something to be aware of.

Thanks for the reply mate, maybe OLED might not be the way to go then sadly and I’ll just hook my pc up to the tv if I want to take advantage of OLED. Think I'm going to look at the G8, a few places that have it that are out of stock say they are unlikely to get stock back in, I wonder if they are discontinuing it or something?
