Looking for a new AOE type game

I am looking for a new game I was always into Age Of Empires, I just brought banished which is ok but I am looking for something that's a bot like AOE where you farm, build, expand and attack has anyone experience of Stronghold, I can see 2 and HD versions on Steam?
