Looking for a new AV Receiver

The 667 is a great amp, it's fairly bright though, what speakers do you have? If they are warm sounding then it should match well. I listened to it with B&W 601 and it really brought them alive.

currently running a 3.1 setup till I can afford some decent floor standers. I've got Monitor Audio radius 90's for fron l+r, radius 180 for centre and a radius 360 sub. Overall getting it setup just using the auto calibration it sounds pretty decent! Much better than the Onkyo 605 did- I get a far crisper sound especially in the centre channel. Well chuffed :D
 
I bought a 667 a around Feb and it is great. The 667 is end of life now though and is being replaced by the 671. For me the 671 is very meh compared to the 667 and has one very big omission. The 671 has dropped the preouts so you cannot easily add a power amp if you wanted to at a later time (which is what I have done for my front L/R so music).

The Onkyo 608 is also now replaced by the 609.

I love the 667 (upgraded from a 465) and giving it a bit more welly with a power amp really lets the music sing. Having the dual sub outputs and a good on screen menu system is also very nice.

Good choice. Hopefully you will love it.

Am really enjoying the amp- watched Scott pilgrim & iron man 2 last night with a big grin on my face :-) I am having a slight issue though with my htpc. Whenever I switch of my Tele or amp off & on, windows 7 reports my connection as being dvi and I get no sound till I reboot/unplug my htpc where HDMI is correctly recognised and I have sound again!
