Looking for a new Board

I currently am using a 680i but I have a feeling its on the way out, ive been looking at the x48 DFI mbs but with these P45 boards popping up now its makes the matter slightly more complicated.

I am defiantly not a ATI user (so crossfire performance is not a problem), how ever PCI E 2.0 is a requirement.

Apart from that the board has to work as well as if not better then a 780i (as im a DDR2 user) and must be a decent overclocker.

I have ruled out 780i/790i as I don't want to go though a wall of bugs like I did with the 680i at first. So the real question is do I go for a decent x48 or wait for these p45s to mature ?

Wait a couple of weeks to see how the P45's fare. They're looking like they will match the X48's outside of Crossfire performance.

they're a brilliant price, seem reasonably future proof and have some fancy new stuff, like the asus express gate> a built in linux OS

Cheers for the feedback, certainly helpful in more ways then one as the p45 are quiet a bit cheaper then the x48 I had in mind.

How ever I don't have a very good opinion of asus boards as ive had experience with them in the pre 975 era as well as with the asus striker (680i) none good experiences.

Have they improved much? because as it stands p45 asus boards on paper look the best, however given past experiences I am slightly less eager to part with cash.

I am looking to place a order on a board ideally before then end of this month, DFI boards look like they are making a comeback, anyone know if we should be expecting a DFI p45 soon ?
