Looking for a new car.

Im looking for a new car, i have about 6.5k to spend and i have been looking at the new celica vvtli's or at seat leon cupra's.
Has anyone heard any bad things about these cars?
or can anyone suggest an alternative.

I quite like celica 190's, they've come down a lot right now it seems. Love the driving position but the gear changes can be at the worst times i thought for "real driving".
