Hey guys I have just the GTX480 on a recommendation from a friend and I am rather excited about it. He did tell me though that these things can run pretty hot and seriously noisy under heavy load so was debating on getting a 3rd party cooler for it.

Now I have not done this before so I am somewhat lost here so any help and advice would be simply superb.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the replies folks much appreciated, I am running an i7 930 OC'd to 3.80GHz in the Antec 1200 case. I have on order the new Antec Khuler 620 so trying to do everything to keep things cold kinda gets expensive pretty quick as I have found out.

I have looked at the VF3000 I think and looks rather impressive (should do for £40 ish) the 480 I have bought is made by Zotac just in case anybody wants to know though I don't know if that makes any difference?

Thanks again for your help folks always appreciated.

Well space is not really an issue since I have no other cards in my machine apart from the 2 video cards I am currently running. My sound is on board and I use a wired connection for internet so no need for a wireless card either which gives me more room.

@ Liquid - Reading the review for the one you mentioned and it looks rather nice indeed :)

Why not just get a GTX570 or a HD6950 ? They are as fast and much quieter. Not to mention you still have a warranty.

Basically a lack of funds and the 480 is supposed to be nearly equal to the 570 in most cases (so I have heard).

At the Op. Definately consider the Gelid Icy Vision, excellent cooling and quiet too though I have put a fanmate on mine to reduce fan speed as it runs fullspeed otherwise(around 1800rpm) though its not noisy at full speed, its just not necessary as it cools very well. I would have considered the Zalman VF3000 but couldn't get one anywhere.
Have a look at the Gelid Solutions website and make sure you order Rev 2.:)

Thanks for your recommendation though I have to say the more I look at the VF3000F the more I like it even with the green lol

Very true Liquid but I am also thinking of maybe buying a second 480 when they drop further in price and go SLI but that is only a mere thought/idea at the moment.

PS - Sorry for the double post earlier :(

I doubt it to be honest, the 480 is one of if not the hottest GPU currently available. The one on the GTX460 Cyclone will be rated for that and not the 480 (as a guess).

I have decided to go with the Zalman VF3000-F on this folks so will be putting in an order to get it this week or next week :) still waiting for my Antec Khuler H20 to come stock which is really annoying :( and I have another 6GB of RAM on order too so will be doing some upgrading!

Thanks and propz to everybody who helped on this I really do appreciate it folks!
