Looking for a new CPU

Hello, looking for a new CPU for my new rig. Its a build for music production/light gaming. I am torn between 2 at current prices.

Looking at some benches and there doesn't appear to be much between the 2, with the 12900kf edging it slightly, so performance to £ its going to the be the 14600k.

The system will be paired with DDR5 32gb 6000mhz so many of the great deals on DDR4 only CPU's are not of interest.

Max budget is £300, anything better to consider?

Currently leaning towards the 14600k also it being the latest gen, any further thoughts?

Do you already have an LGA 1700 board?

Why not look at the new Core Ultra series or AM5?

Not that threes anything wrong with both those CPU's you listed, But if budget allows why not get the latest.
You are 100% correct, I didn't even know about the ultra series, a bit embarrassed about that.

Looks like the 245K is quite a bit ahead of the aforementioned 2, roughly an extra 10%.

I did consider switching to AMD but nothing jumped out at me, I need to go back and do a bit more digging though.

Cheers for your help!!

Is your existing rig incapable of doing those tasks? Why would you think a new system is needed for music production and light gaming?
The main reason is my CPU will not be supported by windows 11. There does appear to be ways around this but my system is now pretty old anyway. I get by with what I have but it does struggle at times.

Are stock intel stock coolers still awful? If it even comes with one.

No cooler included, just checked.

Its probably between the 245K and the 7700, the recent issues with intel are concerning but the 245K looks like a better fit. Honestly though the info I got here has really helped to make the right choice, many thanks.
