what totle says with a few req.:
- kinda like Vampire: the masquerade - bloodlines ( LOVED that game ! )
wich means: rpg/fps
- bit of free roam possible preferably with own place to stay ( jip...your haven in VTM-BL )
- doesn't need to be new but not TOO old either ( say 5 years max )
- loads of buying and upgrading to do like weapons, clothes ( armor ) and even your place ( haven )
- if possible, modern timeline.
- Magic is fine, so are guns and melee

So yeh, basicly i want a new ' Vampires', but troika wen out of business a long time ago ( 1 min silence plz ).

Knights of the Old Republic, a little more linear, but an amazing game, one of the best in my opinion. If you play and like that, go on to Knights of the Old Republic II.

Oblivion? Very free roaming.

Neverwinter Nights / Neverwinter Nights 2.

Deus Ex, a little linear, but some good sci-fi story and a good amount of RPG element in it.

Fable.
 
^Oblivion ya, amazing game, some say they found it boring after a while but I find it an ace game, so much roaming to do and quests etc.
 
Yeah its definately either Oblivion or Deus Ex for you. Don't let the graphics put you off deus ex, its one of the best gaming experiences ever.
 
thx for the replies, got a mate who has oblivion so will ask to borrow it a week.
I actually have deus ex...around here......somewhere *where is the fri****** disc? and Just Cause? hmm ^^ lemme search that :D

I've found "boiling point" but the game seems wrtitten like Win95 without any updates -_- full of bugs. :(
