Hello.

Before I start this thread, I'm going to say I know basic things about computers but when coming to hardware I'm a no no.

I'm looking to buy a new graphics card, I know I need one because I'm starting to get graphics lag and some Windows Vista programmes won't work due to my graphics card problem.

Right now, I have an ATI Radeon 9250.

I want the best possible graphics card out there to fit my computer (I'm not going to upgrade the mother board or anything like that, but if needs be I may have to.

I know you'll need a lot more information regarding this so please tell me what you need and I'll go and find out for you.

Thanks a lot!

Ok, so you need an AGP card, whats your budget??

I suggest the Ati 1950 pro, but its depends on the rest of your spec. That could be overkill and the cpu could be a bottleneck depending on the rest of your spec.

Agreed. The 1950Pro is likely the best bet for AGP users who have a decent AGP system. Think 3Gig+ & at least a gig of ram.

But if you list sytem specs the right choice of card can be confirmed more fully.

Pretty decent AGP system really :) Shove a 1950pro in there as suggested and you'll be laughing, then maybe get another 1gb of ram later down the line for £20 - £30 or so.

Any AGP graphics card will work in the machine you have. Regarding the RAM, I'm not sure because the DXDiag screenshots are listing the motherboard you have, but I'm gonna take a guess at DDR rather than DDR2, but I wouldn't quote me on that :P

What do you mean by that?

SiS 661FX chipset :( Single-channel memory controller, and not the fastest / most reliable of chipsets.

You want PC3200, and any AGP4x/8x graphics card.
