I'm sure this is a standard request on these forums, but I was hoping some fine gents would be able to assist me since i'm a bit hopeless with Monitor/TV tech.

Currently i'm under the impression within this month and the next month or so the new Nvidia and AMD cards are coming out which i'm planning to upgrade to, either a 390x or GTX980/TI (if that's out and about within a reasonable time). So i'm kind of waiting on the official released specs for now.

Guess it would help you guys if I explain i'm pretty much a solid gamer, however I do appreciate excellent pictures with good colour contrasts and do love a good experience while gaming, however will try and push the boundary with smoothness and FPS while gaming.

However i'm currently looking at 3 monitors, which i'd kind of like some support in choosing. If you guys have any extra suggestions feel free to link it and explain why.

First is the Samsung 27D850D 27"

Second is the Samesung Samsung 32D850D 32"

All I know really is one is a VA panel and larger while the other is a LPS while a bit smaller but my understanding of it is next to zero. I'm not sure which would suit me more for gaming because that is what's primarily done on my computer.

The 3rd monitor i've selected while it's far more expensive which makes me a bit more reluctant to buy it at this price. I'm kind of hoping by the time the new GPU's are out (that is if they are coming within the next few months) that possibly it might drop in price/special might appear.

Which is: Asus PG278Q ROG Swift 27"

Obviously this monitor i'd only go for if I select an Nvidia card or could possibly sway me to get an Nvidia card if this monitor really is that good and possibly if the price has gone down a little.

Hi

Do you have a budget for us on this :)?

My personal opinion is that I would much rather have a good quality ips/pls panel. My reasoning for this is that I take image quality and immersion over having a slight competitive edge with notably worse quality.

That said resolution also ties into this as you know. While 1080p is good. 1440p is great.

A budget would help me know if there would be anything else that could be worth looking at.

I personally would recommend a 3440x1440 LG 21:9 monitor if you have the funds. That is my opinion though as I find them to be the best "immersion inducing" monitors on the market. But they won't be. 144hz 1ms twitch shooter grade screens.

Sorry for the rambling hope this is of any use xD

Thanks for the reply. The reason I didn't give a budget was I thought it would indicate with the ones i'd picked. But ideally i'd rather not spend too much over £500 as I am also going to buy a new graphics card as well. But that said, I could just about be persuaded into getting the Asus ROG Swift if it's really that good with an Nvidia card.

I did look at that LG monitor, but 2 things really hit me was obviously the price, it's just really too much. The second is actually my desk. Because of its design i'm placed right next to the wall and I can just about do a 32inch monitor, any larger would be really off centre to where I sit in comparison to the centre of the screen and wouldn't work.

Also yes i'm looking for a 1440p monitor.
