Looking for a new motherboard - Abit Quad GT?

I currently have an asus striker (non extreme version) and it is pants so i am looking for a new motherboard for arround £140

The one that i like the look of is the Abit quad gt

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-138-AB&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=946

Is this motherboard any good?

For referance the new motherboard must:-

-Be 45nm compatible
-Hold 4x 2 Gb Corsair C5 RAM
-Have PCI 2.0
-Be able to overclock very well (Say 3.5Ghz on my q6600 B3)
-Not crash/freeze/decide not to work half the time (like my striker)
-I dont want another nVidia chipset as i have lost all faith in them

Going by the forums they seem to be getting the BIOS pretty dialled in now (regular betas) & it's capable of well over 500fsb if the rest of your components are.
Tbh it's going to perform within a few % of any other X38 as most mobos based on the same chipset do these days but it has a slightly different layout from some others (3rd physical X16 slot running at x4 electrically).
& uGuru is still the best hardware monitor/fan control supplied by any mobo manufacturer imo.

& it doesn't hurt that it's 1 of the cheaper X38 mobos.

The guy at Clunks, Supershanks has both the Quad GT & GA-X38-DQ6, and he prefers the Quad GT and it overclocks better as well, also looking around the forums the Quad GT seems to be doing quite well.

Are you planning on using a decent aftermarket CPU cooler? If so then just be aware that the DQ6 has copper plates on the reserve side of the mobo that'll either need to be overcome or removed.

The gigabyte is a better package and maybe a slightly stronger build but the Quad GT had a better setup for my needs (alas after receiving 2 damaged in the post, I decided on an abit IP35 Pro)

Personally, if you are not overclocking I would go for the Gigabyte but if you are then I'd go for the Quad GT (and its cheaper!)

Hope this helps?
