Looking for a new processor

Hey guys, sorry I seem to be asking a lot of questions in various threads but I want as much advice as possible.

I currently have an E6600 (2.4GHz) Core 2 Duo processor but I have had this for approaching 2 years now and I am looking for a good upgrade. I'm not sure if I want a quad core or a dual core because I don't do a lot of video editing (although do some).

Can anyone help? Thanks

p.s. My motherboard is an Asus P5Q.

if you can go over budget by £15...go for the E8600 E0 stepping and overclock it
