So my trusty Linksys WRT54G has finally given up, and im on the lookout for a new router.

Price range up to £80

I stream HD content from PC to TV, Laptop and 2 telephones connected via wifi.

I have 60MB down and 6MB up.

What are the options? any recommendations?

Ive been looking at the Asus RT-N56U and the NETGEAR WNDR3700, should I be looking into others?

Thanks in advance :D

RT-N56U gets my vote. :)

I moved from a WRT54GL to a an RT-N56U partly on the basis of all the positive comments here ... but currently I'm not totally convinced by it!

For wire connections its great and can handled m VM 60Mb connection which the WRT54 couldn't (could only sustain ~35-ish Mb)

For wireless (using 2.4GHz only) I'm having some issues ... for a lot of the time its fine but on a frequent basis it seems to cut out - sometimes to the extent that I have to disconnect and reconnect to restablish an internet connection. Did a little research and seemed to find reports of other people having similar issues with comments that wifi connections had deteriorated as new firmware had been released. Issue really came to my attention in last week when our family stayed with my mother for New Year and I connected my phone via wifi to her BT HomeHub ... and after a bit I started to realize that I wasn't getting the occasional 10-15sec pauses when opening pages that I get at home.

Anyone else seen anything similar and/or have recommnedations on the best firmware version to use?

RT-N56U is a great router. I don't have any issues with the wifi on it, I'm on the latest firmware.

For poster above, there are custom firmwares out there that you can try. There is a N56u thread in this forum which has examples.
