I'm looking for suggestions for a new sub woofer to replace the Tannoy TS2.8 which is part of the Tannoy HTS101 5.1 Speaker System.
I don't have a lot of space so it can't be much bigger than the TS2.8 (HxWxD - 320 x 324.2 x 270 mm (12.6 x 12.8 x 10.6")) although it could be quite a lot higher just not much more depth or width.
Budget is about £300.
It would need to connect to the AVR with a cable or wirelessly if that's possible.

Current sub - Tannoy TS2.8 (broken) HxWxD - 320 x 324.2 x 270 mm (12.6 x 12.8 x 10.6")
Surround speakers - Tannoy HTS101
AVR - Denon AVR-X2200W
Budget - £300

The go-to brand here is what @hornetstinger suggested, BK Electric. New, it would have been the Gemini II, but they just updated, so now it's the P10-150.

Size-wise it's pretty close to the same size. You'd be going up in driver size from 8" to 10", but losing the Tannoy's ABR (undriven) bass radiator. It's not clear if Tannoy are quoting RMS or peak power with their 180W figure. The BK is 150W RMS and 300W peak.

The P10-150 is available in a range of wood and painted finishes for under £300. Your connection would be cabled.

If you're happy to look at used then the step-up model is rhe XLS200. This is very similar in box size and also uses a 10" driver, but the driver quality is higher and the sub has more power.

Sorry to hijack.

My bk xxls. 400 is doing the buzzing thing.
The cone is vibrating with no input.
It does kind of get the signal but seems to mainly buzz.

Can it be fixed? Or is it a dud?

Contact BK and ask.

Probably this. An xls200 is a fine wee sub. I doubt that Tannoy puts out more than 3 damp squibs of power :p

Maybe look to see if they a refurb on their eBay store or find something 2nd hand on AVForums
