Hello,

I'm currently with Vodafone and my recent monthly bill came to £250. I am currently a student at University and I just cannot afford that. After many hours on the phone to Vodafone arguing I have cancelled my contract with them and am now looking for a new one...

I really don't want to spend more than £30.00 a month and I really don't want to ever go over this amount. I text more than I call so unlimited texts would be more than ideal...

I had a look at this Tariff: http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/shop/mobi...ombi-35-megadeal/sony-ericsson/w995/overview/

But I'm not sure about the phone and down the bottom it says something about "Inclusive minutes and texts are from the UK to all UK mobiles and numbers starting with 01, 02 or 03 at any time." So that means all other numbers I text and call will be charged at normal rates as they are outside my unlimited texts and 1000 free minutes?

I'm confused :) Any advice is greatly appreciated, thank you!

Hi,

no it means txts and 1000 minutes to all uk mobile numbers and landline numbers that (begin with 01, 02 and 03) so as long as your not txting or calling abroad you should be fine. I thought my bill was a lot this month at £80  (i dont have unltd txts) but £250!

Cheers,
Hugest

Thanks for the reply Hugest!

Do you think that Tariff is any good? 1000 free minutes and unlimited texts seems good to me. The only thing that puts me off is the 24 month contract and the phones they are offering with it. I have no idea which one to choose...

How about the vodafone deal that's doing the rounds at the moment? It's just a SIM on a 12 month contract:

1200 mins, unlimited texts, unlimited landline calls, unlimited mobile web (their FUP is 500MB/month)

£25/month. If you sign up via quidco, you should get £120 cashback which effectively makes the contract £15/month.

This may mean transferring your number to a PAYG then back to vodafone; not too sure about that. Unless your vodafone experience is completely soured, this to me looks like a very good deal.

Firstly, what the hell - £250???

Secondly, get skype or similar VoIP service installed on something decent with unlimited internet. Just how many minutes do you talk???

Well I text more than I call but me and my Girlfriend are both at different Universities so I guess we spend a lot of time on the phone talking. But my old Vodafone contract was 500 free minutes so still can't understand why it was still £250. Hmmm...

So I guess the contract I need is a lot of free minutes and unlimited texts lol.

Thanks again for the help!

You should really examine your itemised bill carefully. You must either be doing something ridiculous to mount up £250 in a month or there is an error somewhere.

I have a question regarding this offer and the Quidco you mention... Basically, how does it work? I signed up on the Quidco website but not sure what I need to do now in order to take advantage of the £120 cashback offer.

But I think this offer looks the best for me. If I can get it down to £15 a month that would be great.

I'm sorry to ask all these question btw, I just don't want to ever get in that situation again where I have to pay £250 for a phone bill. I want to make sure I get the very best tariff I can for my needs.

Thank you! :)

Don't worry, quidco is not much of an enigma. Here is a link with info:

http://www.quidco.com/help/12

I'll try and explain it in my own words as clearly as possible :)

The principle is that you go to the quidco site, find the retailer listed on quidco site, click the referral link for the retailer on the quidco site and go ahead and order from there.

First of all it's recommended, but not entirely necessary, to have a browser dedicated to quidco, be it Chrome, Firefox, Opera etc.

1) Open the browser and clear the cookies.
2) Go to www.quidco.com
3) Type in Vodafone in the search box at the top right.
4) Click on the Vodafone link that comes up or click on the up to £120 link.
5) Click on the green rectangle labelled 'visit retailer to earn cashback'
6) Navigate to the deal you want on the vodafone website. In this case click 'Mobile phones and plans' from the red menu at the top, click on the 'sim only plans' link near the centre of the page and select the £25 deal you want which is down the page. Then order from there.

Don't close your browser during the process. If you do, then go back to step 1.

After a few days (can take a little longer) you will see that the £120 has tracked in your 'Earnings' section of your quidco account. You should get your cash back within a few months; it's not an instant process and there is no guaranteed timeframe. It is possible that your £120 will not have tracked but you can contact quidco who will investigate for you but all my transactions since last year have tracked without any problem.

Hope that helps :)

Have you looked at the Tmobile Solo plans, Im on the £20 one and get 600mins call, unlimited texts and unlimited internet (1gb limit though!!) There are other solo plans as well, and you can either pay monthly or sign upto a 12 month contract.
