I have absolutely no clue when it comes to tripods. I've currently got a small cheap manfrotto that I bought because it was small enough to take skiing and it served its purpose but it's not very sturdy and it doesn't extend to my eye level which is annoying.

So looking for a new tripod and head, budget around £100 and it must have a maximum height of ~180cm.

What should I be looking for? Manfrotto? Giottos? I've got no clue of which models and features are actually any good so any guidance would be a big help. Cheers.

There are several threads on redsnapper ones on here if you search. Get one of them + ball head and it will be within your budget.

I'd forgotten about the red snapper tripods. They seem to be well regarded. Is the RSH-12 ball head the way forward?

I'm looking for a tripod too, and saw the £50 Redsnapper combo's

Whats the difference between the RS-283 tripod and RSH-24 3-way head

and

RS-284 and RSH-24 3-way head?

Also, are either of them worth getting for £50?

I was looking at those deals as they are good value.

The 283 and 284 are basically the same but the 284 collapses into 4 pieces not 3 so is slightly more compact I think.

I don't like heads like that so I'll get the ball head.
