Looking for a non-standard connection

Hi,

I've been looking around at my options for ways of getting connected to the internet, which doesn't need cable or ADSL.
Basically something like ethernet link/lease line, but without the price tag.

I'm looking for a connection which I can get 50mb and upgrade as and when I need. I expect my download usage to reach around 480GB with about half that on the upload. At the moment I'm with VM business on using 3x20mb services.

But I would just like to consider my other options if there are any before paying out nearly £900+vat a month for a leased line.

You've certainly got a few more options these days but it largely depends on where you are based. It's still tricky to get high bandwidth into remote areas, but if you are in a major city you will find ethernet type services readily available. For example a 100MB leased line delivered as ethernet in London has come down massively in the last couple of years. There are also the ethernet first mile (EFM) services although you will struggle to get the kind of bandwidth you are wanting.

Hope that helps!

Rich.

Hi thanks for your replies. I'm based in brighton (city center); but what types of connections are there out on the market which would be 'suitable'
