requirements are:
case
operating system xp or windows 7
all internals (mobo, cpu, ram hdd, gfx(if possible) sound card (if possible/necessary)
not much storage is needed, it will be mainly used for web, i would say about 80gig should be ample
no mouse keyboards and screens needed

i would spec one myself, but im completely unfamilar with whats good atm budget wise although im sure amd has the is the best on a budget ?

the budget can go to 300 if it will provide a condierable advantage

I would say buy my system, but the shipping costs to Wales would be rather high I would think :( Best bet would be a second hand system off the bay I would have thought?

thing is its not for me, its for my grandad, i dunno if he would be happy with a used one :S
although your system looks good lol :P
anyways, surely shipping is the same price no matter where you live in uk?

A copy of xp or win7 is going to be probably the largest part of your budget.

If you get a mobo with a half decent on-board gpu that is all you need for web applications. On-board sound is all you will need also unless your looking at doing specific audio tasks.

As suggested above, buy 2nd hand. If he's not happy with having something second hand just put the old bits in a new case for him :) Buying new you will have a hard time on a 250-300 budget even using the cheapest and most basic components

Oh is that offer still on?

I checked the other week on the microsoft website and it now only links me to office 2007, I've been looking for the student win7 myself.

Well that frees up a little bit more budget, I guess you could squeeze a new system now

looking good, i didnt realise 250 gig was so cheap

and i assumed the deal was still on ? shame if it isnt, i dont think i can get 2 copies through msdnaa
:(

With MSDNAA you can get 32 bit and 64 bit versions of the OS AFAIK. IIRC,they should both have a different license code although I could be wrong about this!!
