looking for a piece of software to monitor network usage

on my LAN I think somebody is downloading a lot.

is there a way i can monitor network traffic to see if anybody is abusing the network?

Depends if you can install software on their machine, or if you have some central network device (like a router) that'll give you statistics.

I have a router, I logged into the admin page but couldn't see any kind of statistics.

Logging into their PCs isn't really an option.

What router do you have? Perhaps someone with the same make/model might be able to help you find out who is downloading a lot.
