So far I have been using Ultra Video Splitter, and while it's very easy to use, there are no option to keep the file you split in xvid. This is not a bad thing, but the quality of the output mpeg file is poor compared to the xvid original.

Anyone know a good programme for editing xvids?

Yer, use virtual dub mod, set video and audio to direct stream copy, and set the start and end points in the video, then press save as avi, and it will chop the selected part out, and keep the encoding the same as the source.
