Hi,

I am looking for a quality 2.1 speaker system for my desk both for music/movies and some gaming. Speakers need to be good looking, good sounding and preferably small/minimalist. Any ideas?

Thx

Just checked it and it's a bit expensive. I currently have an Altec Lancing 5.1 system which sounded great for many many years in the past but the subwoofer has started acting crazy in higher volumes (not very high, just normal).

Searching for in Internet, I have concluded to the following solutions:
1) Harman Kardon Soundsticks III - 178€ (seem to not have a separate volume control?)
2) Logitech Z623 - 142€
3) Edifier C2XD - 115€

I am impressed how the Altec Lansing have disappeared from the market....

Latest update: Got the Z533 to try them since they were really cheap and although bass is good, they lack in mid and high, like voices or effects. Just to be sure I replaced the Logitech speakers with the old Altec Lansing in the Logitech woofer and the old ones were more clear in voices and effects. Sending them back...

My problem with the z533 were voices which didn't sound as reach as with the altec Lansing. Bass was ok. One more option could be the Edifier Luna which also get good reviews.

Guys, I was looking at the leviathan and find quite expensive and maybe a bit short for stereo separation. However there are branded sound bars with much better price than PCT speakers. Wouldn't those work better under the monitor?

Just got my self a Samsung soundbar HW-J355. Clarity, voices and effects are much better both than the Altec Lansing and the Z533, bass is a bit less but not bad and surround although definitely less impressive than the 5.1 is still pretty good for a 2.1 setup. Overall I am very happy with this solution, it sounds great, it looks great at the desk and cost was only 149€!!!
