Looking for a quiet case

My wife and I work from home and we're pretty tired of my noisy pc - I have an old antec with the side off (rubbish air flow inside and it gets hot here) and I need to change.

I'm looking at spending around £100 but cheaper is good if it's well built and quiet that maybe doesn't look as good as a £100 case.

I'm willing to buy some foam and new fans to help keep the noise down.

I've been looking at the Cooler Master CM-690 II which seems fine to me.

I don't care about a window, or LED fans and I'm not really bothered about design, but would prefer something that doesn't look like a prop from a sci-fi B movie like this - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-135-AN&groupid=701&catid=7&subcat=160 or this - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-115-TT&groupid=701&catid=7&subcat=2044

That coolermaster case looks quite interesting. Very sleek. Only thing is the feet on the bottom dont look very high, this could just be the photo tho :s would not be a problem unless it was on carpet.

Fractal R3, absolute bliss. You cannot hear it all with 900rpm fans in it, suprisingly decent cooling aswell.

you can get the Arctic white version for £75 aswell.

I read a review of the R3's in the ocuk shop and it said that the psu sits at the bottom of the case with the facing downwards directly into the bottom of the case.

How does this design work?

You can also mount the PSU with it's fan facing upwards if you prefer, obviously this would be better if the computer is on carpet or similar.
I'd recommend the R3 or Fractal XL, both very quiet and good quality cases. The Coolermaster Silencio is pretty decent too.

Antec Performance series are very quiet aswel. I have the Mini P180 and i can barely hear any fans. It's got the big 200mm fan at the top aswel :) but it is a Micro ATX case so the P183 maybe more suited to your needs.

I have a P183 and had to remove and block off the top fan and also remove all fan grilles before I could get the noise down.

Newer P series coming from Antec soon.

I had an Antec Fusion for a Media Centre, was really quiet. Beautiful case. Over £100 though and tight to work in. So not ideal for gaming

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-004-LN&groupid=701&catid=7&subcat= This case fits the bill perfectly if on a budget it will be quiet remember quietness is down to whats inside the case and fans used though.

No need to spend any more I think you might be surprised how quiet 1x front 140mm fan and 1x rear 120mm and 1x 140mm top can be going from a cheap case. What is the spec of this pc ?
If want something better then get the SilverStone Raven 3 SST-RV03B available for £107 the quietness and features of that are hard to beat in and around £100

It has no sound dampening material and has a massive mesh at the front, not exactly what you want if you are going down the quiet route.

R3 F TW.

Was looking at the r3, when you get a case like this does it effect the cooling at all? because its so confined? And any info on the NZXT Hush 2? looks quite nice..

The sound dampening doesn't affect the cooling, but with only two slow fans as standard it can get toasty in there. Might be an idea to add another fan or two.
As for the Hush, no idea myself.

Sound proofing does little I know I have some and I am sure that going from a rubbish case to the lancool will be fine for OP's needs it's still going to be very quiet.
Plus he says it gets very hot and the fractals aren't too great for cooling added to which the build quality / transport damage issues lately.
