I could do with suggestions for a quiet gaming keyboard that can handle heavy handed use, not really interested in mechanical unless there is ones that do not "click" (computers are in the living room).

The only other needed option is a palm rest.

My razer deathstalker died last night.

The Romer G switches used in the Logitech Keyboards (e.g. G810) are quite quiet, as they're not a traditional mechanical switch they're quite soft when they bottom out. Pricey though at over £100...

Other than that, I'd suggest something like the Corsair K30/K40.

Take a look at the Zibal (nearly half price at the moment):

Looks cool.

Are these clunky "noisy" type keys? The mechanical one i have is damn noisy..

Really varies from KB to KB and user to user. You can buy some o-ring noise dampeners from us which will help out a bit.

OcUK Tech Labs Noise Dampening O-Rings for Cherry MX Keyboards- Clear - 125 pieces @ £10.99 inc VAT

After months of testing various products, we finally found an O-Ring size that provided perfect feedback whilst doing an effective job at damping switch noise.

Mechanical keyboards are amazing and with the gaming market becoming more geared up for using mechanical boards, OcUK has taken note of the increasing demand to reduce the only downside of Mechanical Keyboard use. Noise.

These O-Rings are designed to be rolled onto the stalks of the underside of Cherry MX mechanical keyboards. Each O-Ring serves as a damper for the key by reducing the 'throw' of each switch as well as softening the 'bottoming out' noise when a mechanical switch comes to the end of its 'throw'.

Whilst not removing all noise entirely, many of our testers have stated that it reduces noise and clatter from the keyboard as well as giving a softer and more pleasant typing experience.

Compatible with any Cherry MX Switch based mechanical keyboard.

The MX Blacks don't have a defined bump as they're a linear switch - but they'll still have a loud(er) noise when typing on compared to a membrane.

You could put it by saying the Blues and Browns that have a bump will CLICK CLACK when typing, whereas the Reds and Blacks will just CLACK :D

I have this K/B and it's nice and quiet :)...I find Black switches more quiet to use ...but not on the Corsair K/Bs they are all as noisy as each other .

I even got the wife to get one...cos she types like a maniac
